Mindfulness is about bringing our complete attention to the experiences occurring in the present moment, in an accepting and non-judgmental way. By developing this skill, we can transform the way we live our lives. As human beings, we all experience feelings such as anxiety, anger, frustration or depression and we usually blame these on the people around us. By training in mindfulness, our relationship to our thoughts and emotions changes – and this can also allow for changes in the relationships with the people in our lives.

This is an experiential course, where we will learn through practical activities, instruction, discussion and reflection.

The 8-week programme will cover the following topics:

1.              Mindfulness – How to Begin.

2.              Settling the Mind

3.              Mindfulness Supports: Sound and Breath

4.              Working with Distraction

5.              Mindful Movement

6.              Undercurrent and Observer

7.              Acceptance and Loving Kindness

8.              Living Skillfully in Daily Life

The course is based on the teachings and experience Rob Nairn, an internationally sought after teacher of meditation who is currently setting up a Masters degree in Mindfulness with the University of Aberdeen.

Lucy Dixon-Clarke is a mindfulness trainer and yoga teacher. She has studied mindfulness meditation under Rob Nairn, Thich Nhat Hahn and Jack Kornfield, and is a member of Mindfulness Africa. She is currently studying for a PhD in Mindfulness and Education, and is presenting this course to anyone interested in taking greater responsibility for their life’s experiences.

Dates:      Thursday 27th January, 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th February and 3rd, 10th, and 17th March
