“The paths of yoga and of science are very similar in their essence. Both are about the being in the question rather than having the answer. Both are based on practical means to explore the nature of reality.”

Ever wondered why there are so many differing opinions on alignment or how to breathe in yoga?

How does yoga actually work therapeutically?

What is the physiological basis for things like “Prana” or “Kundalini Shakti”?

We will put these questions and many more under the harsh spotlight of science.

You should consider this workshop if:

  • Some things don’t make sense to you and you want to have a deeper understanding of the body.
  • You want to deepen your yoga practice and see things from the inside.
  • You wish that you had the ability to understand medical terminology.
  • You intend to teach yoga.
  • You already teach yoga but feel your anatomical and physiology knowledge is weak
  • You want to better understand the meaning of “good posture” or how to deal with injuries.
  • You like the idea of getting “back to the books” to study something worthwhile.

Learning more about the anatomy (form) and Physiology (function) of the body inevitably refines the way that we do and see yoga. Through this workshop we will become more intimate with our own body’s parts and begin to understand the connectedness of it all.  We will investigate the effect of Asana, Pranayama and Meditation on the Nervous system, cardiovascular, endocrine, lymphatic and digestive systems.

A significant proportion of the workshop will be aimed at understanding our musculoskeletal, physiological issues related to poor posture and common yoga injuries. This serves as an entry into using yoga as therapy.
