Deborah Bagg brings the warmth and energy of the colourful Laughing Lotus Studio, NYC into Yoga Warrior to kick start our New Year with celebration, laughter and passion for life.

Saturday, January 9th 3-5pm  - Baby, You Turn me Upside Down and Inside Out!

Come celebrate the highs and lows of going upside down. In this playshop we will explore the many ways to invert our bodies and free up our minds. Inversions and arm balances offer an amazing opportunity to dig deep into the core of the body, to trust your own strength and even to fall sometimes. We will flow through vinyasa sequences, hold steady in some shapes and partner up to receive the support of another to deepen into our own experience.

Sunday, January 10th 9-11am - Siva Nataraj: The Cosmic Dance as it is Expressed Through Your Body in Vinyasa Yoga

In this workshop we explore the ecstatic nature that is the Vinyasa practice.  Siva's dance represents the movement from illusion to truth.  Siva dances in good times and in bad.  Siva does not close or contract but is in constant relationship to everything and everyone. Siva's dance is the profound understanding of the universe.  Siva's dance lives inside the heart of all. We will dive deep.  We will move and breathe. We will explore the many shapes that yoga practice has to offer, so that you can open your body and in turn free up the mind.  Begin your New Year by setting your intention, and grounding it in practice.

Deborah Bagg's Profile

Deborah is originally from South Africa and began studying and practicing yoga in 1998 at the Sivananda center in Johannesburg. In 2001 she moved to Boulder, Colorado to receive her masters in somatic psychology from Naropa University, focusing on dance movement therapy. It is here that she found her Teacher, Sofia Diaz (www.sofiayoga.com) and devoted many years to the deep understanding of yoga as a devotional practice. Deborah received her teachers training at Laughing Lotus (www.laughinglotus.com) in NYC.  For the past 3 years, Deborah has been teaching at Laughing Lotus under the guidance of Dana Flynn and Jasmin Tarkeshi. She has had the fortune to study with other great teachers such as Ana Forrest, Richard Freeman, Sharath Rangaswamy, David Deida and Thich Nhat Hanh.  Her vinyasa classes are both creative and challenging, linking movement and breath in one divine dance, focusing on the outer body as an expression of the inner body. Deborah challenges her students to confront comfort zones and their perceived limitations with compassion, discipline and a sense of humor.
