Angelo's Beginner Yoga Bush Retreat
Angela's Camp, near Klaserie

"NEVER had I experienced and enjoyed a yoga class so much.  Angelo is fantastic.  The way he explained every pose was so gentle and just so easy to understand."  Corlia

In the shadow of summer, Yoga Warrior will be hosting a yoga retreat at a new venue, Angela's Camp. For a long weekend, from March 6th - 9th, Yoga Warrior will enjoy exclusivity at this small intimate lodge which provides absolute comfort while preserving the charm and ambience of a bygone era.

Nestled in the heart of Big 5 country adjacent to the Greater Kruger National Park, with a huge diversity of mammals and bird species, lies 3200 hectares of pristine African bushveld, this is Angela's Camp.  This private establishment, constructed in the traditional style of an African Safari Camp, has recently been refurbished.  Built on a cliff above the Klaserie River, it offers a "one of a kind" breathtaking view of the bushveld and the oxbox  of the river.

Angela's Camp offers five luxury air-conditioned en-suite rooms with comfortable private accommodation.  Bedroom chalets are named after internationally known local artists and photographers.  Each chalet features that individual's work and includes a personal profile.   The rooms can be arranged as either double bedded or twin bedded rooms.  The rooms are for sharing only.

This yoga retreat will be hosted by our popular yoga teacher, Angelo, a long term Yoga Warrior.  Angelo's teaching style is compassionate and supportive and he is committed to the yogic path that honours the body, soul and spirit in all ways.  He loves to share the benefits of yoga and watch the unavoidable positive transformations that yoga brings to his students.

"Angelo is an inspiring teacher, and gives the right balance of support and pushing you to go a bit further in every practice."    Candice

Since Yoga Warrior will enjoy exclusivity at Angela's Camp, the daily menu of activities can vary depending on the preferences of the retreat attendees.  Each day can begin as dawn breaks with an optional bush drive on an open Land Rover with an experienced Game Ranger who will hunt for tracks to see what the animals have been up to during the night.  After seeing what you can find you will stop for coffee, tea and rusks in the bush somewhere to stretch your legs.  On your return Angelo will teach a flow that will be both strengthening and energising flow on the lodge deck.  This will be to greet the sun while it's rays are just warming and kind to the skin. The practice will start with pranayama to focus the breath and end with optional meditation.

All the meals during the retreat will be prepared by Robyn Timson, chef owner of Robyn's Kitchen. After 3 years as busy executive chef of Fresh Catering, she decided to start her own business with a focus on healthy, wholesome food that is fresh, seasonal and delicious.   On your retreat you will be treated to meals of the finest quality. Expect some quirky flavour combinations and above all lots of hearty nourishment.  Please let us know in advance if you have any food allergies or very special dietary requirements.

All meals will be shared together at a long dining table, so breakfast/brunch will be a leisurely affair discussing the morning's activities.  Afterwards, you are welcome to laze by the lodge's pool, or simply rest in your comfortable room.

Later in the afternoon, long after lunch, Angelo will lead a more relaxed, restorative and flexibility enhancing yoga sequence, so you can truly unwind.  It will include sessions of yin yoga.  The afternoon game drive will follow straight afterwards and everyone is encouraged to join.  This is when the African bush is at its finest washed with the warmth and colour of the afternoon sun.  After seeing what is out there enjoying the sun's last rays, we will enjoy sundowners while the night sounds of the bush begin to sound inviting.  As night descends, the ranger will find what's heating up in the wild bush before returning to the lodge for the rest of the night.  After freshening up, a three course dinner will be enjoyed with wine, as you recount the day's experiences.

  • All game drives
  • 2 yoga classes daily

It does not include:
