4-week Heart-Mind Yoga Course by Lucy Draper-Clarke

Tuesday mornings 10:30 – 11:45 a.m. starting 3rd May (for 4 consecutive weeks)

The parenting role is probably the most challenging that we ever take. We experience the full spectrum of emotions, from immeasurable love, to searing anger and immobilising anxiety. How can we use yoga asana and heart-mindfulness practices to help us navigate this spiritual path with greater ease and equanimity?

Over 4 weeks of practices, we will explore:

  • Calming and soothing our body, heart and mind with gentle asana practice;
  • Accessing insight into our triggers and the habits that keep us trapped, through heart-mindfulness practices;
  • Remembering that our true human nature is kindness, compassion and joy;
  • Recognising the highs and lows of human life, to find a more peaceful state of equanimity.

Through exploration, we will build confidence in our ability to parent with presence and develop a supportive community of fellow travellers along this challenging, yet fulfilling spiritual path.

Lama Yeshe Rinpoche suggested that Lucy offer ‘compassion to mothers’, and this encouraged her to include practices of the heart alongside traditional mindfulness techniques. Fathers are welcome too, of course, as well as those who play a parenting or care-giving role in their work.
